The composer

Iterel uses one composer interaction model with controls owned by the active surface.

Surface ownership

Build home starts in invisible General. The Agents panel manages Iterel's Research, Strategy, and Creative Direction specialists, your private agents, project-shared agents, and verified engine-native agents. Selecting an agent shows one removable tag; its cited Chat retains the exact version. A one-off picker-authorized @agent affects only that submission.

The Task dashboard owns Run / Ask. Design, Project Map, and Whiteboard use a compact one-line contextual composer with optional context chips, +, voice, and send. They may invoke one read-only agent by @handle, but never repeat a persistent agent, destination, engine/provider, connector, permission, or autonomy stack.

Conductor is the internal routing/orchestration layer. It is not a persona, place, panel destination, or mode.

Add context and tools

Use + to attach uploads, saved Assets, project context, or a source from a project-bound integration. A contextual + menu shows only tools relevant to that surface. Figma Import appears under Design + only when the current project has an exact usable Figma binding. Generate image is also a tool and saves a provenance-bearing file to Assets.

The microphone starts paid, project-grounded voice transcription where the surface exposes it. Voice updates the current draft; stopping voice does not submit, create a Chat, or start a Task until the user explicitly sends the staged text.

General routing

  • A cited question becomes a saved Chat.
  • Work becomes a Task using the appropriate surface context and engine.
  • Agent Ask stays in a cited Agent Chat; Delegate creates an ordinary pinned Task.
  • A Task Run with a reviewer creates an isolated review round and findings; it never replaces implementation Changes.
  • Generate image creates a file and saves it to Assets.
  • A Design mutation creates or binds its tracked Task before canvas state changes, even when phrased as a question.

Explicit agent, Task, surface, and tool actions bypass General classification. / focuses the active surface input. It never opens a competing second composer.
