Missions and the board

Missions, not epics

The UI label is mission everywhere. The schema and APIs keep epics for compatibility, but public copy does not. Missions are lightweight grouping and planning boundaries; review still happens task by task.

Board workflow

Expand the left panel to open the board full-screen. Create missions, group the sidebar by mission, and move tasks through the shared status model. A task cannot be dragged to Done while it has an unaccepted round.

Later and Up next

Later is a board-only capture lane for an idle task title. Prepare moves the same task to Up next and opens its slate so you can add mission, context, attachments, and acceptance criteria before Run. It does not duplicate or start the task.

Mission targets and health

A mission can carry a target date. The board shows each mission's progress and due date, and the Command center marks a mission at risk when it is past its target with work remaining, or when its completed share trails the pace its window implies. Health is derived from tasks and dates — there is no separate status to maintain.

Focus and working scope

Focusing one mission turns the shared Board into its URL-backed workspace without creating a new route or duplicating tasks. The header shows mission progress and its bounded working scope: explicit routes, code paths, Design frames, artifacts, files, and other durable references inherited by new child tasks. Each child still keeps its own worktree, rounds, receipt history, review, and task-specific Context.

Roadmap lens

Switch the board to the Roadmap lens to see missions on a time axis: one bar per mission from its earliest task to its target date, colored by health, with progress and counts. Click a mission to open the board pre-filtered to it. Missions without a target date collect in a strip where you can set one inline.

Mission PRD

A mission can also carry a PRD — its product brief and the source of its task proposals, opened from the mission ⋯ menu. See PRDs and specs.

Project attention

Command center, task status groups, notification badges, territory waits, and the “since you left” digest form the active now/next experience. Iterel does not add a second planning canvas or duplicate agenda destination beside Board.
